Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is a healing method which uses the essential oils from different parts of plants. These oils can be used in a diffuser, added to bath water or mixed into carrier oils.

There are many different styles of diffusers but there are really only three different types. A nebulizer does not heat up the oils. It turns the them into an extremely fine mist that hangs in the air. These can be expensive and as they are made from thin glass, can be quite fragile.   They also can't be used with all oils.

There are also electric diffusers. Some of these have a fan that pushes the scent of the oil out into the room. Some, called scent balls, just warm the oil slightly so that they scent is released. There is also a scent ball model made for use in the car.

Other diffusers use the heat from a tea light candle to warm water in which the oil is added. These shouldn't be left unattended as the water evaporates and the glass could crack from the heat.
